Managing Stress 

Stress is the mental and emotional strain a person may feel under pressure. Anything that is currently worrying you is a source of stress. It is more than just a nuisance. Your mental and physical well-being can be negatively impacted if stress is not managed. It can limit your ability to think clearly, make appropriate decisions or lead a happy life. This is why It is so important to learn how to manage your stress. Managing stress means having the resilience to remain standing and face your stressful problems head on. You have more control than you think. With less stress you can live a happier and healthier life. 

There are a variety of coping strategies used to combat stress: 
  • Identify what is causing you stress. Make a list and set priorities. 
  • Learn your own limits. 
  • Get enough sleep.  
  • Learn how to say no to requests that will bring unnecessary stress. 
  • Exercise. 
  • Connect with s stress management support group or counselor. 
  • Try to live a balanced life with time for relationships, relaxation, fun, family, and work. 
  • Learn the physical symptoms of your stress. What are the warning signs of your stress? 
  • Come up with a safety plan for when you start feeling stressed next time. What can you do to take control and decrease the stress? 
  • Practice gratitude. Take a moment to consider everything you appreciate in your life. 
  • Talk about your stress with someone you trust.
