Custodian – Part-time – CDD

POSITION SUMMARY

The Custodian has the primary responsibility for cleaning the site in such a way to promote health and safety while reducing the spread of infection. It is the role of the custodian to follow daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedules by site.  Additional duties may include general building and grounds maintenance, snow removal, laundry, etc. Must be able to pass a federal background check for specified contracts.

 

EDUCATION

High school diploma/certificate generally required.  It is preferred that the Custodian have training in the custodial field.

 

EXPERIENCE

Experience in the custodial field desirable and Knowledge of proper cleaning methods preferred.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Attention to detail, initiative, reliability and stress tolerance

Must pass body mechanics training prior to hire

Must be able to lift and move up to 40 lbs

Ability to follow verbal and/or visual instructions

Ability to effectively communicate with supervisors and co-workers

Good manual dexterity

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Follows and completes the site’s daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedule. These duties include:
    • Collects and bags all garbage from the site, placing the tied bags in a closed dumpster.
    • Washes and sanitizes bathrooms fixtures daily with germicidal solution.
    • Using germicidal solution, wet mops all washable floors including kitchen, bathroom, office and classroom.
    • Washes windows (inside and outside) and walls using germicidal solution as scheduled or needed.
  • Vacuums all carpeting.
  • Sweeps and clears entrance spaces.
  • Dusts, washes and sanitizes other surfaces as specified in schedule.
  • Performs other cleaning duties as specified in schedule.
  • Be able to use burnisher, buffer, carpet extractor or other floor finishing equipment as designated.
  • Refills paper towel, tissue, toilet paper and hand soap in all dispensers.
  • Reports the following to the designated staff person:
    • Presence of animals, vermin or insects.
    • Need for cleaning supplies or equipment repair in advance.
    • Water leaks, and other maintenance needs.
    • All other health and safety hazards noticed.
  • Participates in emergency drills and environmental safety activities, as requested.
  • Attends and participates in site in-service trainings.
  • Must adhere to biohazard cleaning protocol.
  • Requires punctual and regular attendance. Time away from work is approved and taken in accordance with established policies.
  • Performs all duties in a manner that promotes teamwork and reflects the mission and core values.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
