Happy November from your Employee Resource Advocate!
This time of year is all about eating good food and enjoying the company of our family and friends. While you’re enjoying all the celebrations, remember to take care of your health!
Try to think back to what Mr. Joe, a researcher with the Center for Physical Activity and Weight Management within the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Kansas, taught us about healthy eating habits during our Health & Wellness training this past September: Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, and try to eat a smaller portion size. I know it can be difficult with all the great holiday foods around, but your body will thank you!
With Thanksgiving coming fast, it is the perfect time to think about what we are thankful for. What are you thankful for this year?
It is also a time to think about those in our community that may be struggling this holiday season with food, clothing, housing, or loneliness. What can you do to help your neighbors in your community?
If you or someone you know needs assistance with food, clothes, or shelter as winter approaches, please reach out to your Employee Resource Advocate. I can help!
Do you know what I am thankful for this year?
You! I am so thankful to work with such a friendly and supportive staff.
Thank you for making every workday a great one!
A Thanksgiving Poem
First, we gave thanks for the
food we were given,
then we gave thanks for
the houses we live in,
then we gave thanks for the sun
that shines above;
But mostly we gave thanks
for the people that we love.
