Like many companies throughout the world, the recent COVID-19 crisis has put a lot of our employees out of work. Unlike typical companies, however, Job One’s business services are fulfilled by adults with disabilities in the Kansas City community. This group of people is feeling the pains of quarantine especially hard. Work is a place for our employees to socialize with friends and the mental health benefits are incredibly important as well.
While Job One is confident and optimistic about the future, we want to make sure our employees with disabilities continue to feel supported by this community.
Here are 8 ways you can help support Job One and adults with disabilities during the corona pandemic:
1.Make a financial contribution
Whether recurring or a one-time donation, every little bit helps keep our mission alive. These funds are used to help support our employee wellness programs and offer assistance (like canned goods and clothing) to some of our low-income employees. You can make a donation here on our website.
2. Sign up for our newsletter
Things are quickly changing at Job One due to the COVID-19 outbreak! Signing up for our newsletter is the easiest way to stay informed about business operations, employee training, team updates and more!
3. Purchase our Roasterie Coffee Blend
We may not be working in the office, but we’re still drinking a lot of coffee. When you purchase the Job One Inclusion Blend from The Roasterie, 10% of the proceeds come back to us. Now you can give back to your local community and enjoy a nice cup of local coffee!
4. Use Job One’s Business Services
Many of our business services are still operational! If you’ve got stacks of sensitive documents still at your office, our Shred One KC division can help you avoid liability and remain compliant. You can learn more on the website here.
5. Be an advocate
If you can’t make a financial donation, help spread the message of inclusivity by being an advocate. Whether you volunteer or share articles to help raise awareness, you’re contributing to the mission of Job One.
6. Follow us on social media
Job One is active on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram. Give us a follow to see our employee success stories and to stay informed on disability rights and activism opportunities.
7. Amazon Smile
Since we’re all ordering online more than going to stores, now is a great time to register for Amazon Smile. When you register Job One as your nonprofit of choice, a percentage of your total goes back to support our mission.
8. Write and call and pledge to your local politicians
Go the extra mile by asking members of Congress to include pay for federal contractors who employ people with disabilities. You can sign the pledge here.
Thanks for your continued support of Job One. We hope everyone is staying healthy and safe!
