To celebrate Women’s History Month, Job One was inspired to talk with a valued member of our leadership team: Vice President of Human Resources, Kelly Logan.
Kelly has been working at Job One for 34 years (!) and has witnessed firsthand the growth and many positive changes that have happened to Job One over the years. So, in honor of Women’s History Month, we sat down for a quick Q&A with Kelly to learn more about her role at Job One and the positive impact women have in the workplace!
Q: What’s your favorite career achievement you’ve made through/with Job One?
A: Recently becoming a CARF Surveyor.
Q: What are you most proud of accomplishing or what are you most proud of Job One accomplishing over the years?
A: I have been fortunate to have many roles at Job One, I have grown up here. I have learned so much from everyone I work with. I am proud to be part of the successful merger and to see the opportunities and choices we offer to help individuals grow and reach their potential.
Q: What’s been one of your fondest memories?
A: Going to Washington DC for SourceAmerica’s Grassroots Advocacy Conference with our employees (3 different occasions) was such a wonderful experience and made me proud that we provided the support that aided them in being successful.
Q: How do you think women have positively affected change for people with disabilities?
A: We are good role models and I feel we have the patience and understanding to provide the support individuals with disabilities need to be successful.
Q: If there a particular female role model you look up to? Why?
A: I was fortunate to have strong women in my family to look up to. My grandmother, mother, and aunt ––all worked while focusing on family and being involved in their community.
Q: Why do you think it’s important that we honor women? (Especially women with disabilities or women who work with people with disabilities)
A: Individuals with disabilities already deal with many barriers. The women I work with are wonderful. I want to see their courage and achievements, no matter how big or small, being recognized and celebrated.
Q: What’s something you’d like to see change or improve for women in the workforce?
A: I don’t see this at Job One but I want to see women being treated more fairly in the workplace.
Q: How has it improved since you’ve joined the workforce?
A: There are more opportunities and different fields have become more open to working with everyone.
Q: How does Job One create an equal, positive environment for working women?
A: Job One’s core values apply to all and we understand that family is important.
