Job One Training: Hand Hygiene

Hand-Washing Tips!

One of the most talked about hygiene activities in recent weeks has been hand-washing. Thankfully, Job One has been practicing proper hand-washing techniques before it became en vogue.

Karen, our on-site Occupational Therapist, put together a hand-washing Pop Quiz for you to determine which option is the CORRECT way to wash your hands. Let us know which way is the right way!

Option #1, Option #2, or Option #3?

Remember to wash your hands:

  • before, during, and after you prepare food
  • before and after you have a drink or eat food
  • before and after you touch a cut or sore
  • after you use the bathroom
  • after you take out the garbage or recycling
  • after you blow your nose, sneeze, or cough
  • after you play with an animal
  • after your work day
  • whenever your hands look dirty
  • whenever you have contact with someone who is sick

Hand Hygiene is the #1 way to prevent the spread of infections.

Why?
You can take action by practicing hand hygiene regularly and by asking those around you to practice it as well.
When?
You and your loved ones should clean your hands very often, especially after touching objects or surfaces, before eating, and after using the restroom. Your healthcare provider should practice hand hygiene every time they enter your room.
How?
It only takes 20 seconds of using soap and water to kill the germs that cause infections.
Who?
You, your loved ones, and your healthcare providers should practice hand hygiene.
